Decriminalisation
We work for decriminalisation because it’s in the best interests of people who use drugs, their families and society as a whole.
There is no evidence to support that criminalisation has a preventive effect; on the contrary, people who use drugs are harmed by the strain and stigma that comes with being criminalised.
We want a substance use reform that leads to problematic substance use being seen as a health issue, not a criminal law issue. Punishment is not a preventive measure. Decriminalisation prevents stigmatisation.
